I’ll admit it. I often get stuck in a dinner rut. After a while, I start cooking the same five meals over and over again. Sure, they’re good the first ten times, but after that they start to lose their luster. That’s why I’m so thankful when a new cookbook arrives. Recently I’ve been flipping through Dashing Dish: 100 Simple and Delicious Recipes for Clean Eating
.
It has a ton of beautiful pictures, which can be a bad thing…pretty much makes me want to eat everything in the book, and although the dishes I prepared weren’t quite as photo-ready as the ones in the cookbook, they were delicious. I really enjoyed the Cake Batter Protein Shake (page 26). If you use a high-quality protein powder, it puts those canned and packaged protein shakes to shame.
I really liked that the recipes in this book focus on clean eating. I’ve tried in recent years to start eliminating some of the processed food from my family’s diet. We’re not there 100% yet (I’ll admit, my kiddos had cheetos at lunch today…shhh, don’t tell). It’s nice to have a resource that helps further that goal.
The thing I appreciated probably more than anything is that the recipes features ingredients that #1) I have actually heard of #2) I can actually find in my local grocery store. I have to eat gluten-free for health reasons, and I was happy to find that most of the recipes were compatible with my diet. There are a few that call for high-fiber tortillas, but I just use gluten-free wraps instead.
These recipes are family friendly and range from chocolaty cookie breakfast pancakes to skinny pizza dip. Best of all – it’s real food.
Fair warning: If you get this cookbook you are probably going to want to cook all 100 recipes…I’ve not made it through all of them quite yet, but the ones I’ve tried have been pretty good!If you’re looking for a clean eating cookbook with recipes you’ll actually eat and ingredients you can actually find, this one’s it!
If you don’t want to wait until your cookbook arrives, you can check out some of Katie’s free recipes at her site Dashing Dish. Every mom needs new dinner ideas from time to time.
